Communities are strongest when people come together with a shared purpose. After decades of serving families across Comal County, United Way of Comal and Guadalupe Counties is proud to announce an exciting new chapter: expanding our mission to serve both Comal and Guadalupe Counties.
This expansion represents more than a change in name. It represents a commitment to reaching more neighbors, building stronger partnerships, and creating greater opportunities for individuals and families throughout our region. As we move forward together, our vision remains the same: a community where all individuals and families thrive.
The heart of our work has always been about people—helping neighbors overcome challenges, connecting families with resources, and investing in programs that create lasting change. Now, we are honored to bring that commitment to even more communities.
A Thoughtful Expansion Built on Partnership
The decision to expand into Guadalupe County was the result of months of thoughtful consultation, discussion, and planning. Our board of directors worked closely with United Way of Texas, United Way Worldwide, and trusted leaders from both counties to ensure this transition would strengthen our ability to serve local families.
This expansion reflects an opportunity to build upon the foundation created over generations while responding to the growing needs of our communities. By combining resources, relationships, and shared goals, United Way of Comal and Guadalupe Counties can create an even greater impact through local partnerships, community programs, and support services.
While our service area has grown, our commitment remains local. We will continue listening to residents, understanding community needs, and focusing resources where they can make the greatest difference.
Two Counties Connected by Community
For generations, Comal and Guadalupe Counties have been connected in countless ways. Families share roots across county lines. Friends gather, businesses operate, and neighbors support one another regardless of which side of the county line they call home.
From shared workplaces and community events to school activities and even friendly sports rivalries, the relationship between these two counties has always been strong. That shared history made the decision to step forward and help our neighbors an easy one.
When communities unite, the possibilities grow. Together, we can address challenges more effectively, expand access to resources, and create new opportunities for families throughout the region.
A Legacy of Helping Neighbors Since 1954
The story of United Way of Comal and Guadalupe Counties began in 1954 when members of the New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce founded what was originally known as the Community Foundation. Since that time, the organization has remained committed to responding to community needs and supporting those facing difficult circumstances.
For decades, United Way has partnered with hundreds of organizations and community leaders to provide support for individuals and families throughout the area. Our work has helped feed the hungry, care for the elderly, support the medically uninsured, provide housing assistance, address addiction challenges, support individuals with disabilities, provide counseling resources, protect children, and ensure students have the supplies they need to succeed.
We have celebrated new beginnings by supporting newborn families, encouraged students through educational opportunities, and helped create partnerships that bring people together to solve challenges. Every program, partnership, and donation has contributed to building stronger communities.
Continuing Our Commitment to Local Impact
As we welcome Guadalupe County into our expanded mission, our focus remains centered on creating meaningful local impact. The challenges families face today are complex, including rising costs, financial uncertainty, childcare needs, and access to essential services.
Through collaboration and community support, we will continue investing in the areas that help families thrive. Our work focuses on strengthening financial security, creating youth opportunity, supporting a healthy community, and building community resiliency.
